Has anyone painted on a canvas with a palette knife?
Was it hard to do, did the work come out right? Just trying to get an outlook for my painting class.
Yes, I've done many painting with a knife. It's a little tricky, and it uses a lot of paint... there are mediums that help extend the volume of your paint and add texture that are very interesting and fun to play with... I want to say Zec was a good one, and it excelled drying time... I always painted in oils so that was nice. And Yes with a little practice your paintings will come out very nice. We all have our own technique and it will take a while to find yours. Don't get discouraged, I hated my first one! The more you practice the easier it will get. The easiest way for me to learn was painting texture in the tree trunks... a real close up of the trunk of a pine, a few mountain peaks in the background. Mountains, rocks, cabins, all beg for the knife! You will love it!
