I missed today 6th March UCAS application process route B, is this catastrophic?
Hello,
I am applying through route B Art & Design the application deadline was meant to be today 6th of march. However my tutor still forgot to write a reference for me.
Despite the fact that he accepted my personal statement and it was clear without mistakes and errors, he said that its fine. Plus I choice my 3 route B choices. Today he was unable to do it. I am therefore applying through college which is why I can't send it from home.
What is the consequence of this? Does that mean its all over? I have no chance this year or do I have to settle for a clearance? Obviously its not my fault.
But I am thinking of complaining to the director/senior director of my college against my tutor (teacher) for being very careless and not writing the reference on time. Is this a good idea? Or should I wait longer till I take further action.
I am not sure what is the Impact of this but I am quite worried that I won't be able to get accepted to university this year.

I agree with what the first poster suggested you do. In addition, know that, unless the unis and courses you applied to are incredibly competitive to get into, many unis will accept applicants after the UCAS due date. Again, it depends on if they still have places left, after those who applied on time are accepted, but so long as they do, they will consider your application.
Of course, you are also able to go through clearing. Even the top art schools, including Central Saint Martins, tend to have some spaces available through clearing. The problem is that those spaces are only in certain courses - some courses will be full.
But again, do ring both UCAS, and the unis individually. I'd have you do it now, but it's what? 8:30 over there on a Friday? I'll have you try them tomorrow morning, just in case they are available. If you don't reach anyone in person, you'll have to do it first thing on Monday.
As for your tutor - what reason did he give for 1) not doing the reference and 2) not being able to do this today, when he knows you're under deadline pressure? If it's that you didn't remind him, then that's your issue; but if it's that he just didn't do it, then I'd have your parents call him right now to see if he can make time to do this this evening, before end of day. Sometimes, bringing your parents in, although you may not want to do it, can help.
